What's the MFL Development Center?
The MFL Development Center
The Development Center allows you to invest in your players’ progress, keeping them on track to reach their potential. Let’s explore what this feature means for you and your players.
What Is the MFL Development Center?
The MFL Development Center is a place where player agents can send their free-agent players — those without an active club contract — to continue their training and development. It provides a way to keep your players growing, even when they aren’t on the pitch, ensuring that they don’t lose valuable time between contracts.
How Does It Work?
Sending a player to the Development Center is simple, but the potential rewards depend on the choices you make:
👋 Select the Duration
Choose a stay of 1, 2, 3, or 4 seasons. Longer durations lead to better progression and lower costs, but it also means locking the player away for a longer period.
🪙 Settle the Development Center Fees
The $MFL fee depends on the player’s OVR rating and the number of seasons they will stay. This cost is an investment in their future growth.
📈 Let Them Progress
While in the Development Center, the player’s XP will increase each season, with longer stays offering greater benefits: The longer their stay, the more XP they earn, putting them on the path to reaching their potential.
🔐 Wait for Their Return
Players cannot be removed from the Development Center before their chosen duration ends. They cannot be sold on the MFL Marketplace, traded, or sign in a Club while there. Once their time is up, they’ll be ready to rejoin the pool of available players, potentially better and stronger.
Why Choose the Development Center?
The Development Center offers a new strategic layer to the MFL ecosystem. It’s more than just a holding place for players — it’s a way to keep their potential alive and growing. Here’s why it’s a valuable tool for agents:
Alternative to Club Contracts: If you’re struggling to find a club for your players, you can ensure they continue to progress while remaining a free agent.
Progression as Reward: Think of it as a staking mechanism — you lock in your assets (your players) for a period of time, and the reward is their increased progression. This growth could make them more attractive to clubs or boost their value when they return.
Additional Rules
To ensure fairness and maintain the competitive integrity of MFL, the Development Center has a few important guidelines:
Legendary Players are not eligible for the Development Center.
Only free-agent players (no active club contract) can enter the Development Center.
Players will leave the Development Center when they turn 30 years old. For example, a 28-year-old player can only enter for a maximum of 2 seasons.
Players can be sent to the Development Center anytime before the Mid-Season Transfer Window. After that, you’ll need to wait until the season ends.
Players who have played more than 3 official matches with a club during the season are not eligible for entry into the Development Center.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does sending players to the Development Center guarantee they’ll progress/their OVR will increase?
No, it only guarantees they will be on track to reach their potential at the chosen progression rate.
Can players go beyond their maximum (hidden) Potential attribute value? No. Potential (POT) is a hidden attribute that represents the highest OVR a player can achieve in their primary position. The POT rating cannot be changed, and once a player reaches their POT value, their development stops. Sustained lower progression rates mean they will take longer to reach their Potential. Sustained higher progression rates means they will reach it faster.
Is the progression linear in the Development Center?
No, it’s not linear. Each player has his own unique path. A player could for example progress by 1 OVR in their first season there, then not at all in the second season, then gain +3 OVR in the 3rd.
What does the progression rate represent?
When in a club, a player’s progression rate depends on many factors: Their playing time, their match ratings, the level of their opposition and teammates… In the Development Center, however, it’s a flat rate of progression. If you select 1 season, they will gain 60% of the XP they could have gained during that period, meaning their peak will be delayed slightly. On the contrary, if they constantly gain 120% of XP, their max potential will be achieved earlier than expected.
